Kitchen Tip: How to Store Baking Soda


Baking soda can lose is efficacy if not properly stored. Your cookies will be flat. You cakes will be flat. Everything goes flat. This happened to me once, and my famous chocolate chip cookies were thin and crunchy where they should have been thick and chewy. The horror!  The baking soda can also absorb flavors from other products and spices, the way it absorbs odors in your refridgerator. Ew! So, this means we need to be careful with our baking soda doesn’t it?

Luckily, all you need to do to protect your best friend in the baking aisle is put it in a ziploc bag and squeeze the extra air out of the bag. Store it next to the flours in your pantry, and listo!
